Healthy Day

Posted by Kim in General at 9:52 pm | Permanent Link

I started my healthy day by having my induction course at the gym I joined today,
which basically meant having a personal trainer show me around the gym equipment
and set me a personalised training plan. I was impressed with the facilities…
and like the fact that it’s not full of people more preoccupied with what they
are wearing than actually getting fit. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

I followed this up by starting on the first spring clean of my garden…a job I
put off every year, but Megan is looking forward to planting her plants so the
job had to be done.

Back to School

Megan went back to school today…this is how she looked before she went to school…

not so when she came home..she managed to fall over at playtime and took the skin off
her knee. Boy did we have fun at bathtime..couldn’t get her to sit down, I had to
chase her round the bath with a sponge.

Fun Day

We had a fun filled day today. I took Megan and Jamie (my little sister), to see
Jungle Book 2…second verse same as the first… but quite entertaining. The
girls enjoyed it and that’s the important thing.

We followed this up with a trip into Stockport with Mike (Jamie’s Dad)to watch
the “Dancing in the Streets”. This consisted of various types of dance groups
performing in different parts of the town. It finished with a stage show including
break-dancing, flamenco, cheerleaders, martial arts dance (very energetic) and
dance groups…it was very well done, hats off to the organisers. We all enjoyed it.

Busy Busy

Got the shopping out of the way this morning, then me and Meg played games, made
pen toppers and finally sorted out her greenhouse plants.

We’ve had to buy some slug pellets today, they are sneaking up the legs of Meg’s
greenhouse and having a midnight feast on her new plants…she’s not impressed.
Although perhaps we shouldn’t have bothered…I’ve just read a very interesting
article about slug pellets.

Apparently, they are made of 5% poison and 95% dog food. The poison is easily
washed away by any rain and the remains act as a slug magnet…so you end up with
more slugs than you would have originally had and to add insult to injury you
provide them with a tasty meal. Should the pellets actually work, the slugs
apparently lay their eggs before they die…so yet again you end up with more
slugs than you would have originally done.

Well we’ve put them down anyway…results to follow later…..

Unusual Facts

Posted by Kim in Fun at 9:45 pm | Permanent Link

I’ve not really had a very interesting day today, just work, work, work….so to
add a little interest I am going to try and find an interesting or unusual fact
to put on my blog every Friday. So here goes….

Apparently, banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour….how do
they know!!!!

Wet Again!!

Posted by Kim in General at 9:03 pm | Permanent Link

Raining again…must be a Bank Holiday weekend.

Busy day at work preparing claims spreadsheets…a job which will get easier when
it becomes more automated….eventually. It seems a waste to have spent all this
money on a new system to improve efficiency, only to have the whole process delayed
by human inefficiency!

Megan had fun today planting with her Grandad again..she’s becoming very green-
fingered…or is it just getting dirty she enjoys 🙂

Well before I go and do something useful, I found this news article on my web
travels and I found it amusing!!

“A woman had her husband’s ashes made into an egg timer when he died so he
could still “help” in the kitchen.”

Twilight Zone

How’s this for weird.

Megan, my 6 year old daughter was stood in my bedroom last night putting on lip balm.
She called me in because she couldn’t find the lid, which she had put on the cupboard
in my room. I turned the room upside down trying to find it….it wasn’t there.

I’ve just found it today, 24 hours later, on the grass in my back garden. How does
that happen?
