Then it was all back to Paula and Pete’s new house for a coffee

Where’s it going

Posted by Kim in General at 8:27 pm | Permanent Link

Well that’s another week gone and as I keep being reminded Christmas
is nearly here.

I must admit I bought my first Christmas present
today, probably the earliest I’ve ever bought one. It was off the
book salesman that comes into work…they have some really good
bargains so you have to get them when you can…that’s my excuse
and I’m sticking to it 😉

Oh and David’s still in his box…being constantly baited with
food. A model helicopter with a hamburger attached to it was
flown round his box earlier this week, as well as people grilling
food below his box to tempt him.

A man was also arrested for attempting to cut off his water supply.
Is it just me or are we really letting ourselves down as a nation.
People can’t just go down and be supportive they have to be
destructive. Maybe it’s just that this is the sort of news the
British press reports and that this behaviour also happened in his
American stunts…it still makes me feel ashamed to be British.

Harry Potter

Must get round to reading The Order of the Phoenix again. I was
in such a rush to get it read before anyone gave away the plot
that I must have missed alot.

Apparently there has been a pirate copy of the book recently
released in Venezuela translating it into Spanish. Unfortunately
the person translating the book couldn’t actually understand
English very well and he actually includes an apology in the book
for his dodgy translation.

At one point in the book it warns “here comes something that I am
unable to translate, sorry” and “You gave him the old one-two (I’m
sorry I didn’t understand what that meant”. You would definitely
need to use your imagination when reading this version of the book
to fill in the blanks left by the translation!!

Only nine months until the third film is released, June 2004. And
filming of Goblet of Fire is due to start early next year. The
Director has been secured, Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral)
but Harry, Ron and Hermione have yet to be confirmed…apparently
they’re getting on a bit now!!

Busy Busy

We had a busy day today. Megan went to Sean’s birthday party at
Dreamieland in the Trafford Centre. She had a brilliant time.
But all we could get out of her was how good the ride was…
especially as it involved squirting water guns.

We followed this up with a three hour trip to Ikea! Time flies
when you’re spending money. Bought a few bits for Meg’s bedroom.
She has finally decided she is too old for Winnie the Pooh and is
now desperate to decorate her room. When she finally stops changing
her mind about the colours she wants, we can get on with it.

Day 7

Posted by Kim in General at 8:56 pm | Permanent Link

David Blaine has now been in his box 7 days. He is already feeling
dizzy when he stands up..how does he expect to last 6 weeks without
passing out.

The latest annoyance has been a group of spectators shining laser
pens at his face…very funny. He got the last laugh though, they
were arrested because he thought it was a gun being pointed at him.

Fire Fire

Megan went to the fire station with Rainbows tonight (I went along
to help…it had nothing to do with the uniforms…honest) 😉

They were shown a couple of videos and tried on some of the uniform.
Then after the fire engine came back from a call out they all got to
spray some water (Megan sprayed it all over one of the firemen’s cars)
and then they had a ride in the fire engine Meg said it was really
cool “you could see the blue lights and everything”.

A good time was had by all.

Big Brother Technology

Posted by Kim in General at 9:41 pm | Permanent Link

The micro chip technology that already allows people to be located via
their mobile phones could soon be installed in household objects. TVs,
computers, DVDs, etc are to be fitted with micro chips that monitor
their location and normal proximity to each other and would immediately
alert police should there be any unexpected change. The technology is
expected to be up and running in Manchester within the next six months.

I presume that the objects would have to be moved some distance from
each other to trigger the alarm…otherwise you’d have the police
bursting through the door every time you rearranged the furniture!!
Also does the alarm trigger if the burglars carry the items out in close
proximity.

Anyhow the idea seems to be that you should get your stuff back at
some point because the tagged items can “probably” be located to within a
metre.

It would be more amusing to have a tag that makes the object scream
extremely loudly “HELP HELP I’M BEING STOLEN” when it was picked up….the
down side of course being that the thief would probably drop your TV or
computer out of fright 😀

Funny Film

Posted by Kim in Fun at 9:41 pm | Permanent Link

Just watched The Man Who Sued God starring Billy Connolly an extremely
amusing film especially when you work in insurance.

Basically Billy’s boat gets struck by lightning and the insurance
company refuse to pay out because it is considered an act of God….
so he decides to sue God.

I won’t go into any further detail…..highly recommended.
