What a Performance!!

Well after 20 minutes of tears, the plasters finally came off and
the verdict is that one of them is a bit gooey at the moment but
not as bad as what I was imagining. Mind you, you would think her
leg was falling off the way she carried on afterwards 🙂

Talking of things falling off…we had details of a lovely claim
in today. A man working in an engineering plant tripped over and
threw his hands out to stop himself from falling. Unfortunately
one of them went into a piece of machinery and just about cut off
his thumb. Sometimes it’s better to just fall flat on your face
and take the ribbing.

Work is picking up a bit now…I’ve lost half of my desk to files!!
But better to be busy stops the day from dragging…especially when
your desk is sat facing the clock!!

Not Again

Megan has topped herself…when I picked her up from school today she had fresh
plasters on both knees…she has managed to fall over and remove the skin from
her knees before the previous scab has healed. I am unsure as to the degree
of damage this time because she would not take the plasters off yet, but
judging from the amount of blood on the plasters the prognosis is not good….
will fill you in tomorrow.

Weekend

Posted by Kim in General at 9:03 pm | Permanent Link

The weekend is nearly over already…why is it that work days drag on forever
and the weekend flys by. Time plays serious tricks on our mind. It would be
nice if just once the good times dragged out.

Had a girlie night with Meg, went to the gym a couple of times, watched a
couple of films…watched Minority Report a cracking film apart from the eye
removal bit….all in all a good weekend.

Wet Again!

Posted by Kim in General at 11:12 pm | Permanent Link

Raining again, feel a bit tight sending Megan to school in her summer dress,
but I don’t have alot of choice due to the fact that she has grown out of the
rest of her uniform.

Works not too pleasant at the moment, we have a new Director who is trying to
introduce alot of the working practices that she used when she was at her last
company. She used to work for a huge national insurance company and be in
charge of a few hundred people. She is now in charge of 6 people and doesn’t
seem to have grasped that the same concepts don’t work in every situation. All
she is managing to do at the moment is put everybody’s back up and has everyone
reaching for the job ads.

Megan had a major trauma tonight…part of the scab on her knee…which I must
admit is a cracker this time… caught on her pjs and was hanging off. It took
me a while to persuade her that she wouldn’t rip her knee off if she pulled the
scab off. Two minutes later she called me back up saying “her nail was coming
off”!! This turned out to be a tiny catch on her finger nail which took me a
second to bite off.

Well time for bed..before I go my unusual fact for the week is that apparently
polar bears are left handed. Again, did they find this out by going to the
North Pole (yes I did look it up) and ask a load of polar bears to write
something or play tennis??

I’m Not Tired!!!

Couldn’t get Meg out of bed today which is very unusual normally she’s pestering
me to get up, but she’s had two late nights on the run so stand back and wait
for the fireworks…it didn’t take long!!

Went and worked off a bit of steam at the gym before picking Meg up from school
she’s very hard work when she’s tired…and true to form she was. But we made
it and she’s fast asleep in bed, hooray!

This and That

Posted by Kim in Family at 11:08 pm | Permanent Link

Me and Megan had a this and that day today..we did a bit of this and a bit of
that.

We started off with a bike ride to the park this morning. Then Meg planted
some of her flowers in the garden, which reminds me that I forgot to put slug
pellets down…hope they’re still there in the morning! Then we got all
creative with some toilet roll tubes and some paint.

We finished the day off with a “girlie night”, we watched Snow White and had
some popcorn. All in all it was a good day.

Badly Fitted

Posted by Kim in General at 10:30 pm | Permanent Link

I had to take Megan back to the shoe shop this afternoon, her new shoes had
rubbed her big toe to the point of bleeding. The woman in the shop was fuming,
she showed me that the shoe was actually too small across the width and Megan’s
small toe was actually pushing out the side of the shoe and should have had a
blister on it too. Her feet were re-measured and we were given a width bigger.

I was told that this was the fourth pair back this week due to being wrongly
fitted by the same assistant. Now I nearly didn’t take her back, I thought she
just had soft feet like me…so how many children are walking round in shoes that
were fitted wrongly by this Clarks approved shop.

My unusual fact for this week…staying on the topic of feet…is that butterflies
taste through their feet, not good if you stand on something nasty!!

Amazing

Posted by Kim in Family at 8:42 pm | Permanent Link

Megan has just been reading one of her books to me…she is an excellent reader and
never ceases to make me feel proud. This of course means that I have to watch what
I leave lying around!!

I will never forget the first day she read to me and how amazed I was that she could
suddenly put the letters together and read words. The look of pride on her face when
she manages to read a street sign or things around her is priceless.

The ability to learn this difficult skill seemingly “overnight” will always leave me
in awe.
